Wood streets, Mar Vista, California

From street trash to Whimsical Metal Sculptures and Kinetic Art

Hi, I’m Lori your local artist with a few screws too loose. Don’t mind me, just here to bring joy to the wood streets.

MEET SOME OF MY CHARACTERS

Beam Love

Made with a tool box and fire extinguisher and glass beads. She was inspired by a New Jersey basketball teammate whose mother I found to be humorous and light of heart. This is dedicated to Laura’s Mom. She BEAMED LOVE.

Scuba Pooch

Made with fresh water tank and parts giving by three men with tuxedos with bowties. They were commercial developers and gave me a bag of parts that I made Scuba Pooch from. Men from Indiana are cool.

Big Hugs

Made with outdoor light fixture found in rubble of a Malibu home burnt down. Full of tar and ash now has been resurrected into his new life. Big Hugs also has a twin brother named Top Hat who is a dancer.

Kudo Khan

Made from two stainless steel yacht sinks. Her body is a camping propane tank that was found at Death Valley camp site. Feature on head is two fan blades. Kudo loves to wave at all the cars and is a break dancer.

Donate ⁎

I don’t make commission pieces, but you can donate!

These donations help me teach welding to younger artist and also help me buy drill bits and cookies. Gotta to have snacks while making art!

Other Projects I was part of…

  • Survival Hoops

When the basketball hoops were locked up during covid we built hoops out of trash in the alleys of Mar Vista and Venice to keep people inspired and playing basketball.

Collaboration with Nico Nasmith from Veniceball.

  • The Hoopbus (non-profit)

I am a basketball player and an artist, so when Nico came to me in 2019 after he bought a school bus and wanted to put a hoop on it, I could’t resist helping in the creation of The Hoopbus. A pretty wild and crazy thing we created.

Collaboration with Nico Nasmith from Veniceball.

  • Take Back the Alleys

In 2022, I founded Take Back the Alleys. I gathered local artist as we took over the alleys in the Penmar neighborhood and brought colorful life to the walls and garage doors. Alleys are a great place to beatify and showcase the amazing talent of artist that we live within our community. No one should be going down a boring uninspiring alley! Not in my neighborhood!
